a stylised publication that showcases melbourne's best laneways for street art.
the publication promotes 18 of the best laneways in melbourne’s cbd and does so in a stylised and immersive fashion.
this is achieved through highly expressive typography, image treatment, and layout design, all of which work harmoniously to convey the spirit, vibe, and story of each of the laneways.
blender lane is an exclusive spot featuring arguably the best artworks in the city. it’s only really known by locals and fanatics.
i played around with legibility to the point that only people who recognise the name of the laneway will be able to decipher the otherwise illegible display type. continuing on with this idea of exclusivity, many of the images are blurred out — a tease that entices readers to go out and visit the laneway.
finlay alley is a dark and spooky laneway contrasted by the colourful tags that adorn the walls.
typographically, i wanted to capture that ghostly essence that you feel as soon as you walk into the alley. the immersive background shot from within the dark alley transports the reader into the space, and images fading in over top showcase a few of the standout pieces.
